Marsh received her bachelor’s degree in geography from Calvin College in 1999, her Master’s Degree in geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2003, and her Ph.D. (also in geography) from UCSB in 2009. Geography is a unique discipline that integrates knowledge across the social and natural sciences to provide robust ways of understanding our world and analyzing the many varied interactions between humans and their environments.
The geography major in the Department of Geography at Western Michigan University is a liberal arts major that will prepare you for a variety of careers in both the public and private sectors.

- Six to eight credits in one or more concentrations (environmental analysis and resource management, geographic information science, economic and regional geography).
- 12 credits of electives.
