Simon Cowell’s decision to buy his former X Factor protegée Leona Lewis’s Hidden Hills, California, home in August was a tad puzzling, given that he listed it at a loss from the outset. Now, according to the Los Angeles Times, Cowell has officially sold the equestrian estate at a further loss.
He paid the “Bleeding Love” singer $3.9 million for the property, and put it on the market for just under $3.7 million not even two weeks later. As of this month, he has sold it for $3.6 million. Situated on a sunny acre in the celeb-friendly neighborhood, the compound comprises a single-story ranch-style main house, a detached guest house, and a stable with a riding arena. The main house measures 4,900 square feet and includes three bedrooms and five bathrooms. There is a bit of a Scandinavian influence to the interiors, which are light-filled and minimalist, with large picture windows and numerous skylights dotting the vaulted wood-plank ceiling. A wide modern fireplace dominates the great room, while the kitchen boasts cabinets painted an eye-catching mix of goldenrod and purple, with plenty of counter space. Accordion glass doors at the far end of the room open out onto an impressive outdoor kitchen and the backyard.

An oak-paneled theater with built-in shelves and a full bar provides a nice respite for movie nights. The main bedroom suite features a lofted, wood-paneled ceiling; its own fireplace; and access to a private garden framed by tall bamboo trees. There’s also a Zen-inspired en suite bathroom with wooden countertops and a deep-soaking tub set in stone, as well as a massive fitted walk-in closet with ample shelves and glass-fronted closets. Out back, an irregularly shaped swimming pool and grassy green lawn stand between the main quarters and the 1,000-square-foot guest house, which has its own bedroom suite and two bathrooms. Cowell presently maintains a $25 million Malibu mansion he purchased in 2017; he sold off his longtime Beverly Hills home over the summer for $25 million and another Beverly Hills house in September for $14.5 million.
